When you don't receive push notifications from StreetWise on your phone (alerts that pop up even when the app is closed), there are a number of things to check before asking for help. Here are some easy steps to follow before contacting support:
- Check your current status in the app. Make sure you are not set to "Off Duty". A status of "Off Duty" will stop push notifications from being sent to your device.
- Check your device's individual app settings to make sure that push notifications are allowed for StreetWise. Many devices will remove permissions from apps that are rarely open. If you depend mostly on the push notifications and rarely open the app, it is possible that your device removed push notification permissions from the app. Those permissions can be returned using the app settings on your device. The method of doing so will vary, depending on the make and model of device. Opening the StreetWise app from time to time should keep the permissions from being removed.
- Check the obvious device settings. You've probably already done this, but it doesn't hurt to check that your device is enabled for push notifications and your volume settings are correct. Remember that some devices have "bedtime" mode or "focus" settings that can affect how push notifications from specific apps are handled. Again, this varies depending on make and model, but be sure that StreetWise is allowed to receive notifications regardless of your phone's "bedtime" or "focus" modes.
- If you have never successfully received a push notification from StreetWise, it is possible that you missed the prompt that occurs at installation asking if you want to allow push notifications from the app. If so, you can typically change this is the app settings of your device. If you're not familiar with using the app settings on your device, you may choose to uninstall and reinstall the StreetWise app, paying close attention to approving the permissions prompts. Make sure you have your license key and device ID handy before attempting to do this. If you do not have your license key and device ID, you can submit a support ticket to StreetWise to get those.
- If you are receiving the notifications, but they are not accompanied by any audible sound, check your "Notification Sound" in the Settings menu of the app and make sure you're not set for "Silent". If you are not set for "Silent", try changing the sound to another setting and see if you receive an audible alert on your next call. Make sure your phone is not set to vibrate only.
- If you've tried these steps and are still not receiving push notifications from StreetWise (but you are receiving them from other apps) contact StreetWise support by submitting a support ticket request from this website.
