O.K., let's assume that you now have your account interface code from ER and they have turned it on over on their end. That has also been supplied to us and we've confirmed it's turned on in our system as well. You should be seeing your incidents automatically importing to create new NFIRS incident reports in ER.

If you are an administrator in your Emergency Reporting account, you will notice that your all of your ER Administrators now have a new menu box under their Administration tab called "Interface Settings".

In order to have your StreetWise status button changes populate your Unit Times in Emergency Reporting, you will also need to associate (or “map”) your StreetWise device names to your Apparatus names in Emergency Reporting. This is done in the "Apparatus Mapping" section of your Emergency Reporting > Administration > Interface Settings > Apparatus Mapping.

StreetWise sends your unit status times to Emergency Reporting using the unit name that you provided to us when your units were set up. We do NOT send the unit designations from your CAD system because we do not receive those from all dispatch systems. If you need to confirm what we're sending to Emergency Reporting, you can look in your StreetWise Client Web Portal under the "MDT" tab. Below is an illustration showing which column to read to confirm the StreetWise names of all of your units.

Note that if you have used IDENTICAL names in both StreetWise and ER, the "Apparatus Mapping" step is NOT necessary. However, if you named something “Engine 1” in StreetWise, but call it “E1” over in Emergency Reporting, then you need to associate those two names together so that ER knows where to put the status times for “Engine 1” when they are imported from StreetWise. Otherwise, the status times WILL NOT POPULATE to your NFIRS report until this step is completed. If we have already been sending unit times to ER, but our unit names have not been mapped to the appropriate ER unit names, our unit names should appear in the apparatus mapping table in Emergency Reporting as "orphans", meaning that ER does not recognize these units.

Simply click the "Edit" button for the orphan unit and assign it to the appropriate Emergency Reporting unit name. In any instance where you are to enter or refer to a "CAD Name", just think of this as the StreetWise unit name. The process is fairly simple and intuitive, but if you need any assistance, simply contact your Emergency Reporting rep or their customer support.

If you want the Situation Type to populate in your NFIRS report, you must associate each of your CAD system's call types with an NFIRS Situation Type code. This is done through the menu item "Incident Type Mapping" (see arrow). You would need to get a list of all the fire department call types in your CAD system and associate those with an NFIRS code (i.e. "Medical Emergency" to "321- EMS Call"). Once you have done that, any time we send that CAD call type to ER, it will automatically populate the associated NFIRS Situation Type into that call. This is an OPTIONAL step. If you do not do this, the StreetWise calls will still populate to ER, but they will not have a Situation Type. It will remain blank until the firefighters manually choose it. Many departments prefer having their firefighters choose the Situation Type themselves, particularly if their CAD call types are very general.

You may also associate certain CAD call types and not associate others. Any that are not associated will force the firefighter to choose a Situation Type manually. For instance, if you had a "General Assist" call type in your CAD system, you probably don't want to associate that with anything too specific in NFIRS, so you might leave that one unassociated.
